Biomass briquettes

Thousands of tons of coconut shells and fibres are simply seen as waste in Ghana and are treated in this way: the shells are simply incinerated or used as "hotels" by Mosquitos. However, the shell and fibre are very valuable raw materials that would be useful for adding value to the entire waste management.

The main objectives of this project are twofold:

  1. Wood and charcoal are the main energy sources of the majority of the population, especially in the rural areas of Ghana and West Africa. This is the real cause of the rapid deforestation.
  1. Creation of jobs for the numerous job-seeking young and old people (collection & processing of coconut fiber and shell as well as production, local sale and export of the biomass briquettes).
